India will handle the Production of Nothing Phone (2)
Nothing, the London-based smartphone brand, has announced that it will produce its much-awaited Phone 2 in India. The launch of the Phone 2 is scheduled for July 2023, and Manu Sharma, VP and GM of Nothing India, has confirmed the news of its production in India.
“Nothing is known about smartphones with the iconic transparent design. These designs require high-tech manufacturing processes and precision engineering that have improved smartphone manufacturing capabilities in India. We strive to manufacture in India with our commitment to local consumers and their requirements. Manu Sharma, President and CEO of Nothing India, said in a statement: “We are proud to announce that the phone (2) will be manufactured in India.”
In terms of specs, Nothing founder Carl Pei said last month that the phone (2) will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 series chipset, which is a definite upgrade from the phone (1). In a tweet, Pei said that its initial tests show that app opening speed on phone (2) is twice as fast as on phone (1), “an overall performance improvement of 80 percent.”
According to his statement, we can expect the phone (2) to be a significant upgrade over the phone (1), not only in terms of performance, but in terms of overall experience, which Pei seems to prioritize over specs.
Recently, nothing has revealed that the phone (2) will have a larger screen. The screen size increases by 0.15 inches, making it 6.7 inches. Nothing has been done to reduce the environmental impact of Nothing Phone (2).
Recycled materials are used in the phone and in the manufacturing process, and the total CO2 emissions of the manufacturing of each unit have been calculated to 53.45 kg, 5 kg less than the phone (1). According to a GSMArena report, the phone is said to pack a large 5,000mAh battery with fast and wireless charging. Also running Android 13 and NothingOS 1.5.
According to the report, the Phone 2 will receive three years of Android updates and four years of security updates.
